Yale Network Registration

Register your computer for Yale Network Services
To register your computer for network service outside of the SOM buildings for the current academic year, you must have activated your Yale NetID before starting the laptop registration procedure. If you have not activated your NetID on the Yale system, please visit http://www.som.yale.edu/itg/online_help/config_login.asp.
You must first connect to the Yale network: http://codex.som.yale.edu/index.php/Yale_Network_Connection
Determine the hardware address of your computer's ethernet (wired) conection
1) Click on the Apple in the menu bar.
2) Select System Preferences...
3) Select Network
4) Change the Show field to "Built-in Ethernet"
5) Under the Ethernet tab, write down the Ethernet ID, example: 00:00:00:00:00:00
Determine the hardware address of your computer's AirPort (wireless) connection
1) Click on the Apple in the menu bar.
2) Select System Preferences...
3) Select Network
4) Change the Show field to "AirPort"
5) Under the AipPort tab, write down the AirPort ID, example: 00:00:00:00:00:00
Register the address of your Ethernet card and/or Wireless card at the website
1) Start your web browser
2) Type the address https://secure.its.yale.edu/netreg/
3) Click on Register My Network Connection.
4) An Identification screen is displayed. Type your Yale NetID and password, then click on the Login button.
5) Click the link for Wired Ethernet (Management Student)
6) Choose 'Register a Different Computer' (DO NOT "register the computer you are at", it will not work properly for this application)
7) Enter the Ethernet Hardware Address (EHA) for your ethernet (wired) card. Remember not to use dashes.
8) Follow the prompts to complete the registration.
To register your AirPort wireless connection, click the "Main Menu" button, then click "Register a Wireless Connection". You will be prompted to put in the EHA for your wireless card. Remember not to use dashes. Follow the screen instructions with the same information as above to submit your wireless card for registration.
Allow 30 minutes after you have submitted both registrations for the information to replicate through the Yale network. You will then need to restart your computer and log in again in order to access the Internet via ethernet/wireless connections.
