CLASS OF 2010 INSTRUCTIONS

To configure your POP/IMAP/SMTP Access, you will just need the following server settings:

POP Server: connect.yale.edu

IMAP Server: connect.yale.edu or mail.yale.edu

SMTP Server: smtp.som.yale.edu

SMTP Requires Authentication. The users name should be in the form of "yale\netid" and uses your Yale password.

Where to set these values depends on your email client. Each software package is different so if you need help with your email package, contact the software company's technical support. For example, see the instructions from Google on how to use Gmail to check external emails http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=21288.

Note: While POP/IMAP access can be useful in configuring non-outlook mail clients please do note that only mails are copied to local machine. Any folder layout you created in the exchange server may not replicate correctly to local client.
