Register Laptop MAC Address

The following steps are necessary to get your laptop fully configured on the network. MAC Address Video Below are the instructions

Register your Laptop on the Yale Network

The web site,http://www.yale.edu/netreg/, allows you to register your laptop computer for network service outside of the SOM buildings for the current academic year. You must have previously Setup Network Login & Password before attempting the laptop registration procedure.

Determine the hardware address of your laptop's network card

• Click Start then Run (If you have Windows Vista type cmd in the search box under the start button)
• Type cmd and press Enter
• Type ipconfig /all at the Command Prompt (there is a space between ipconfig and /all)
• Press the Enter key
• Write down your Wireless Network Connection Physical Address and your Local Area Connection Physical Address. The physical address has 6 pairs of hexadecimal characters separated by dashes for your Ethernet and Wireless Adapters.

• Close the Command Prompt window by typing exit and pressing Enter.

Register the address of your Ethernet card and/or Wireless card at the website

• Type the address http://www.yale.edu/netreg/ in your browser.
• Click on Register Student Network Connection
• An Identification screen is displayed. Type your Yale NetID and password, then click on the Login button.
• Click Register New Computer
• Enter the Ethernet Hardware Address (EHA) for your Wireless Network Connection and your Local Area Connection. (You will have to register 1 card at a time) Remember not to use dashes.
• You will be prompted to answer a few questions:
  • Type of Network Connection: Your Wireless Network Connection is Wireless and your Local Area Connection Wired
  • Campus Location: Professional School - School of Management
  • Choose your Computer Type
  • Choose your computer Hardware
  • Choose your Operating System.
• Click I agree

Follow the above steps for your second Physical Address.

Allow 30 minutes after you have submitted both registrations for the information to replicate through the Yale network. You will then need to Restart your laptop and log in again in order to access the Internet via ethernet/wireless connections.
